Introduction
The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) is an initiative by the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India, launched through its Innovation Cell (MIC) in 2018. Its primary goal is to foster a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship systematically across all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in India.
IICs operate within colleges and universities to encourage, inspire, and support students and faculty in developing new ideas into prototypes and startups. These councils organize activities such as workshops, seminars, hackathons, and competitions on topics like innovation, entrepreneurship, design thinking, and intellectual property rights. They also connect students with industry professionals, mentors, and investors to build a vibrant local innovation ecosystem on campuses.
